Simple answer? Yes.
Now, I could sit here and tell you that, up to now, there has been no archaelogical discovery that disputes the Bible in any way. In fact, discoveries are being made, almost daily, which back up various stories in the Bible.
I could also tell you that there is just as much (or more, if you look at the big picture) evidence for the Biblical flood, as there is for evolution.
I could spew off the many prophecies concerning the end of this age that are now coming true (parent/child relationships, society's rejection of God, earthquakes, famines, disease...).
Are bible stories true? These points alone convince me that the Bible stories are, indeed, true.
However, I'm not you, and you're not me (probably a good thing, it would be a scary trip into my head!).
So what could I say to convince you that my simple answer is true?
Nothing.
However, before I leave this article, leaving you high and dry, I'm going to ask you a few questions that may help you in your quest to find the answer.
- Given the complexity of the human body (well, any living organism for that matter), do you really believe we weren't created?
- Given the huge gaps and assumptions in the theory of evolution, is it a viable alternative to being created?
- Who decided what was right or wrong?
- If we were left to our own devices, given the death, destruction, and our general behaviour throughout history, wouldn't we have destroyed ourselves long ago without the guiding hand of an all-knowing and loving Father?
- If God was not around, can you explain why you are here? Mere chance? Planted by aliens (where did they come from?)?
- If you read Jesus' words on how the world will be in the end times, does it not reflect what is happening today?
- Have you read the Bible? Does it make sense? Are there gaping holes in it's pages? Did God leave something out of his Word that should have been included in order for us to live productively and peacefully?
Obviously, there's nothing I could tell you that could convince you of what I believe: that the Bible stories are true. You could argue with me until we were both blue in the face, and neither of us would budge (been there, done that).
Are bible stories true? I believe, if you ponder the questions above, and honestly search your heart and mind, you couldn't come to any other conclusion.
