Inspirational Bible Verses
God continually inspires his children into creativity and action through inspirational Bible verses contained within his word.
So what does it mean to inspire?
Inflected Form:in*spired ; in*spir*ing
1 : to influence, move, or guide by divine or supernatural inspiration
2 : exert an animating, enlivening, or exalting influence upon; also : AFFECT
3 : to communicate to an agent supernaturally; also : bring out or about
4 : INHALE
5 : INCITE
6 : to spread by indirect means
Inspiration comes in many forms and impacts people in different ways (ie. creativity or action). The Bible is the greatest form of inspiration because it not only covers human life-based inspiration, but spiritual-based as well.
Like I said in my encouraging Bible verses page, the hard thing about coming up with inspirational Bible verses is that the writer doesn't know what you are looking for at this particular moment in time.
So I've decided to organize my inspirational Bible verses page into categories. Due to copyright laws, I can't include the actual text to all of these inspirational Bible verses, but I will include a link to Bible Gateway where you can read the actual verse.
Inspiration to Worship God
If you are familiar with the story of Job, you'll probably wonder why I pick this verse first on the topic of inspiration. Once you read Job 38, you'll understand.
To me, Job 38 creates in me an awe for God. As God questions Job and his friends, he takes them through an intimate journey of his awesome creation. "Have you walked in the recesses of the deep?"
I imagine walking with God, totally protected from danger, through the recesses of the deep sea. Soaring through space to visit the stars and other heavenly bodies. Just imagine! How awesome would that be?
Isaiah writes about the "zeal of the Lord", which inspires me to love and worship God. The statement says so much about the nature of God. He loves us so much, and wants us to know that he is in control and wants a personal relationship with his children. Isaiah writes about the coming of Jesus and how God has set the world on his shoulders. Awesome words from another of my favorite inspirational Bible verses!
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David's throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.
Ruth 1 - 4
At first, Ruth chapter 1 is rather depressing. Father and sons die, leaving the wives alone, childless, and fending for themselves. Upon deciding to go back to Naomi's home country, one of the daughters leaves them to return to her own homeland. However Ruth remains with Naomi and travels to Bethlehem where they meetup with Boaz.
The next three chapters of Ruth and Boaz is amazing. Ruth is totally obedient and submissive to her mother-in-law (and therefore God). Boaz is committed to providing for the needs of Ruth and Naomi. Both serve as excellent examples of husband and wife, inspiring us to look not to our own needs, but to those of our spouses.
God rewards Ruth's faithfulness through her family line in these inspirational Bible verses, which includes King David and Jesus. We have such an awesome God!!!!
Inspiration to Worship Jesus
Jesus Christ is our teacher, example, friend, and confidant. He molds us, takes care of us, and forms us into an image of himself. With his own words, Jesus inspires his brothers and sisters to worship his very name.
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
Jesus taught his disciples so plainly, using vivid examples of his power and instructing us in faith, teaching us through inspirational Bible verses to rely on God's power.
Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. "How did the fig tree wither so quickly?" they asked. Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."
Inspiring us to read and study God's word, Jesus clearly teaches that we must read and know scriptures intimately. Only then will be able to stand firm in God's truth and truly understand these inspirational Bible verses.
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" "The son of David," they replied.
He said to them, "How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord'? For he says, "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet."' If then David calls him 'Lord,' how can he be his son?" No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.
It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.
I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
"The terror you inspire and the pride of your heart have deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks, who occupy the heights of the hill. Though you build your nest as high as the eagle's, from there I will bring you down," declares the LORD.
Proverbs 31:10-31 provides us a picture of a wife of noble character. If you are a woman reading this, please remember: I DID NOT WRITE THIS PASSAGE. I am not chauvinistic - ask my wife!
Any woman respected by her husband, working hard to provide for her family, selling goods and land is pretty darn good in my books. I get rather upset when I see men use the Bible as an excuse to treat their wives badly, when God clearly sets out the standard in which wives should be treated, and how wives should be of noble character.
Is there a woman out there that doesn't see this as one of the better inpirational Bible verses for women?
Acts of Creation
God is the ultimate creator. Over and over he affirms his sovereign control over everything that happens under the sun. I love how he always reminds us of his power, and his plans to one day restore his perfect creation. If this verse from Isaiah isn't one of the best inspirational Bible verses to inspire creativity, I don't know what is!
For the sake of Jacob my servant,
of Israel my chosen,
I summon you by name
and bestow on you a title of honor,
though you do not acknowledge me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other;
apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me,
so that from the rising of the sun
to the place of its setting
men may know there is none besides me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the LORD, do all these things.
"You heavens above, rain down righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness grow with it;
I, the LORD, have created it."
Another few verses from Isaiah tells us how God will restore his original plan. Read Isaiah 65:17-25 here.
There are so many inspirational Bible verses that its hard to choose. In my opinion, the Bible in its entirety inspires us to live a life for God.
Thanks for the inspirational Bible verses. Take me back home.
